The Vantage name is synonymous with high performance versions of the cars manufactured by Aston Martin. Whilst the Aston Martin V8 Vantage is indeed a high performance version of the V8, its changes are such that it is really quite a different car. Mechanically the Vantage had a significantly higher spec engine with high-performance camshafts, increased compression ratio, larger inlet valves and bigger carburettors mounted on new manifolds for increased output. Externally, the car had a more aggressive stance than the V8 and it was easy to distinguish from its younger sibling by way of its closed-off hood bulge rather than the open scoop found on the normal V8. The grille area was also closed off, with twin driving lights inserted and a spoiler added to the boot lid.

When first introduced in 1977 the Aston Martin V8 Vantage was hailed as ‘Britain’s first supercar’ with a quoted top speed of 170 mph and a 0 – 60 mph acceleration time of close to 5 seconds! In period the Vantage was often tested against the Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer and the Porsche 930 Turbo.

The Vantage was produced from 1977 through to 1989 and enjoyed a number of subtle enhancements throughout its life. Engine performance was increased with different models and the interior also improved giving a more luxurious appearance.

The Vantage is an extremely rare car with only 342 coupes built during the thirteen years of production and there are only a few of these hand built classics known to exist in Australia.
We are delighted to offer a rare 1984 ‘580 series’ V8 Vantage that is one of only 94 ‘wide body’ Vantages built with the BBS alloy wheels.

This car has a known history from new and was brought to Australia with its current owner when he emigrated here some 8 years ago.

The car is in absolutely fantastic condition. The aluminium bodywork is straight as a die and the panel gaps are excellent. All of the brightwork/chrome and glass are also excellent and the sumptuous interior that has full Connelly leather with burr walnut wood trims is simply to die for. The car is fitted with factory correct original BBS cross spoke alloy wheels and a set of the correct Pirelli P7 tyres.

The alloy quad cam V8 engine with 4 x Weber carburettors (that is mated to a 5 speed ZF manual gearbox) makes all the right noises and the performance is simply frightening.

This car features a stainless steel AML sports exhaust system, an uprated ‘quick’ steering rack and the car has just had a complete new AM clutch assembly fitted and has been serviced.

This Vantage is in superb condition and is reluctantly offered for sale on behalf of its current owner who has enjoyed the car for the last 11 years.

The car comes with the original Aston Martin Owner’s handbooks, an impressive history file and the original tool kit & jack.
