2000 Porsche 911 Turbo (996 Series)

Details

The evolution of the Porsche 911 is probably the greatest sports car story of all time. First introduced in 1963 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and then designated as a 901, the successor to the 356 took the world by storm. To avoid conflict with Peugeot who claimed exclusive rights to car names with three digits having a “zero” in the middle the car was renamed as 911. The first production 911’s were built in 1964 and were powered by an air cooled 1991cc 6 cylinder engine.

The car evolved with increases in engine capacity to 2.2 litres, 2.4 litres, 2.7 litres, 3.0 litres, 3.3 litres and later 3.2 litres with styling changes also, but one always recognised the car as a 911. Today the first series of 911’s is recognised as the cars built from 1963 to 1989 and included the very popular Porsche 911 or 930 Turbo models.

In 1989 the 911 underwent major change with the introduction of the 964 series cars. This car was essentially “all new” and whilst instantly recognised as a 911 the car had significant technical improvements.

The 993 series cars were introduced in 1994 and built through until 1998 when further major change occurred with the introduction of the 996 series cars. The 996 introduced a water cooled engine for the first time in a 911 and the body shell was a “new shape”, though again distinctively 911.

Oldtimer Australia is delighted to offer one of the most desirable of the 996 series cars, the 996 Turbo. This particular car was delivered new by Austral Motors Porsche in Brisbane on the 29th November 2000. The car, finished in the desirable colour combination of seal grey with special order ‘boxter red” special leather interior, has the following options noted: C23 (Australian delivery), 249 (tiptronic transmission, 5 speed), 432 (steering wheel with tiptronic control), 618 (Preparation for telephone installation), 650 (sun-moon-roof), 939 (draped leather rear seats) and 982 (Draped leather front seats).

The first owner had the car a short time before it passed to its second owner, a well-known classic car collector here in Brisbane. He owned the car for some 14 years before it passed to its third owner in late 2014.

This model Porsche offers an unparalleled driving experience and in standard guise the 3.6 litre flat six will propel the car from 0-100 km/hr in well under 5 seconds and a top speed of near on 300 km/hr. This car has been ‘chipped’ providing an estimated 10 – 15% more power! Apart from the ‘chip’ and a 997 series head light shroud the car is total original.

The car has a full service history with books & tools, spare keys and it has travelled only 45,000km from new.

Immaculate in every regard this car will suit the most fastidious buyer.
