1971 AC 428 Frua fastback

Details

AC cars based in the UK built all Shelby Cobra chassis and body units for the US based “Shelby American Inc” Cobra range in 260, 289 and 427 V8 form.  In 1966 in response to demand for a more upmarket GT car AC Cars took the AC/Shelby 427 Cobra chassis, lengthened it 6 inches to accomodate an ultra elegant Italian designed Frua bodyand powered it with a Ford supplied 7 litre 428 Galaxie engine with automatic or manual transmission . This car, an automatic is well appointed with black leather trim, power steering and De Dion rear suspension and inboard disc brakes. It is one of 51 AC Fastbacks built in a total of 80 cars before production ceased in 1971.

I purchased this car in Vancouver, Canada a few years ago, it is an original factory RHD example and since then the car has had a mechanical and cosmetic restoration costing near $200,000. It is fitted with Trigo Replica Halibrands in 7″ & 9″ with new Michelin XWX tyres.  It is finshed in its original Blue Metallic with new black leather trim and new carpet. It is the Only example in Australia and the cheapest entry into the world of AC Cobra and Shelby Cobra designed vehicles.
