Details

The 1950’s Giulietta Sprint was Alfa Romeo’s first attempt at manufacturing a sports coupe that would be produced in significant numbers. As testament to the success of this model the car was in production for over a decade from 1954 through until 1965. Today the Giulietta is regarded as one of the finest designs to come from Bertone and these cars are becoming highly collectible. The car is both elegant yet purposeful and the 1300cc engine was powerful enough to propel the car to a top speed of approx 165 km/hr.

We are delighted to offer a 1960 Giulietta Sprint chassis number AR1493 22975 and engine number 1315 *013530* that has been confirmed by Storica Alfa Romeo as a matching numbers car.

According to Alfa Romeo the car was manufactured on the 28th March 1960 and sold to the Alfa Romeo dealership in Lugano Switzerland on the 28th November 1960. It is believed the car was purchased by American owners who used the car in Europe and then shipped the car to the USA soon after. The car was in fact titled in the USA as a 1961 model.

The car is structurally excellent and is largely undisturbed. It has been well looked after and appears to have been sympathetically maintained throughout its life with work carried out as required to maintain its condition. In recent times it has had a bare metal respray in its original colour (Alfa Romeo red No. 501) and has been mechanically sorted. The car been tastefully upgraded with front disc brakes and a Weber carburettor, however, all the original components are included with the car.

The paint work and bright work are excellent and complimented by the interior which has had the original upholstery restored and also includes relatively new wool carpets

Today the car presents fabulously and it would be equally at home gracing the field at any significant classic car show or used out on the open road.

The car drives beautifully and runs on near new Pirelli tyres.

A factory tool kit, jack, owners manual and considerable documentation and other literature accompany the car.

These cars are rare in Australia and at $69,500 this car presents a great opportunity.
