1959 COOPER CLIMAX T51 CHASSIS NO F2/14/59 ENGINE NO 430/27/1215. Chassis number F2/14/59 was purchased new from the factory in 1959 by David McKay on behalf of Victa Industries. After only two races it was sold to Bib Stillwell and, initially fitted with a 2.2 litre motor, became his main car for the 1960 Gold Star Championship. In October 1960, Bib Stillwell purchased from Jack Brabham F2/7/59 which was said to be the car Jack Brabham had used in the Grand Prix of Monaco 1959. The motor, suspension and wheels were transferred from this car to F2/14/59 and in this form raced by Stillwell, including winning the inaugural Warwick Farm event in December 1960. Significant results with the 2.5 motor include: • Caversham, WA, Gold Star Championship November 1960 2nd • Warwick Farm Inaugural Meeting December 1960 1st • Philip Island Gold Star Race December 1960 3rd • Warwick Farm International Meeting January 1961 3rd • Ballarat International Meeting March 1961 2nd • Hume Weir International Meeting March 1961 2nd • Longford, Tasmania International Meeting March 1961 Retired • Warwick Farm March 1961 2nd • Bathurst Road Racing Championship April 1961 3rd. Sir Jack Brabham drove the car at Bathurst in October 1960 and Bib Stillwell driving the car at the International meeting at Warwick Farm in January 1961. The car was sold in 1961 to Mr Brian Thompson of Victoria who first raced the car, fitted with a 2.4 litre supercharged Climax motor, at the International meeting at Sandown in March 1962. At that time there was an article written on the car which referred to it as “Jack Brabham’s Monaco winning car in 1959”. The car was then unused until it was restored during the late 1980s by Don Fraser of South Australia on behalf of Brian Hacket. Since1999 the car has been campaigned in Australia and overseas in historic events. The car is registered with the HGCPA has full FIA papers, CAMS logbook and Certificate of Description.
